Is MSc Entomology Distance Education Valid and UGC Approved?
No, a Master of Science in Entomology through distance learning mode is not valid in India or approved by the UGC, as it is a highly practical, lab-based, and field-intensive science program that is generally not recommended for research or academic-based careers. As per UGC regulations, a science program that requires practical and research-heavy laboratory exposure has to be taught in traditional, on-campus mode only. As for higher studies and jobs, science degrees obtained through distance mode are generally not recognized and are heavily scrutinized. Hence, for top-tier government and research job positions, a regular, on-campus Entomology degree is a must.
