Is D Pharma Distance Education Valid and UGC Approved?
No, D.Pharma (Diploma in Pharmacy) is not valid through distance or online learning mode. It is not approved by the University Grant Commission (UGC) nor the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). It is because Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharma) requires mandatory hands-on training, laboratory training in hospitals and practical exposure to community pharmacy practice. Also, UGC-DEB strictly prohibits and excludes pharmacy degrees and diplomas from approved distance learning programs. So, D.Pharma degree obtained from distance mode will not be valid for obtaining pharmacist license or opening a registered medical store.
